Paint yourself. Disappear.
MONO CHAMELEON is an online hide-and-seek game with the look of a retro handheld. The whole world is drawn in four monochrome shades, dithered in olive and cream, and that small palette is the trick: with so few shades to match, a hider who paints carefully melts right into the wall. Seekers hunt them down in first person with a catch gun. Every surface has a pattern, so hiding is also a drawing game — match the wall, or just doodle for fun.
Built for streamers, tools included
- One click on "Create a stream room" sets up everything a stream needs: audience seats, comments, votes and turns to play (people join with the room code)
- Up to 239 audience seats. Once the 10 player seats are full, viewers can launch the game and watch from the audience
- Playing with your viewers: beyond the player limit, people line up in the audience and play as seats open. In a full room, guests rotate out after 1, 2 or 3 matches (the host stays), and viewers waiting with the room code get in automatically. "Swap out" frees a seat without kicking anyone, so that player can come back with the code
- The audience votes on who'll survive to the end, and mid-match on which side to help. That side gets a small, short-lived boost: the seekers slowed for 5 seconds, an extra decoy for every hider, a full reload for the seekers' guns, and more
- Audience comments and one-tap reactions ("Nice!", "GG") fly across the screen but never reach the players, so spoil every hiding spot you like. With X-ray, the audience can see where everyone is hiding (the host can switch it off in the room settings)
- The host can sit out as the director: switch cameras (or use the auto camera), let the audience vote on the next map, mode or hunt length, and mute or remove commenters
- Streamer mode hides the room code behind dots by default, and if your facecam sits bottom-left, the chat can move to the bottom-right
Streaming & videos: yes, please! Streams, videos, shorts, screenshots and clips — monetized or not, on any platform — are all welcome. No permission needed. A mention of "MONO CHAMELEON" (and a store link, if you can) is always appreciated. The music is an original composition. Sound effects are original or CC0 (Kenney), so everything is safe to keep in your videos.
Features:
- 5 modes: Normal (classic hide-and-seek), Infection, Double (everyone hides, then everyone seeks), Tag, and Prop Hunt
- A real hunt: no radar shows the hiders — seekers have to spot you with their own eyes, so work the angles and listen for the whistle
- Decoys: in Prop Hunt and the hide-and-seek modes, leave a decoy of yourself behind and let the seeker shoot it. It shatters, and the seeker is slowed for a moment (3 per round)
- Shadow-to-shadow Tag: a low sun casts long shadows, and the Dark team melts into them. Sneaking kicks up no dust and softens your footsteps
- Proximity voice chat, emotes that work in any language, and simple text chat (moderated)
- Save your painted look and share it with friends as a code
- A Daily Challenge with a new layout every day, Steam achievements, and emote sets and titles to unlock
- Never an empty lobby: Quick Match drops you straight in, bots fill the empty spots, and late joiners jump in at the next round
- Steam lobbies with friend invites, plus LAN play
- Full controller support; playable in English, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese
Affordable, stylish, and built to play with friends.
