Originalbeschreibung auf Steam

Grow above. Reach below.

Start with a small sprout and watch your progress take shape in leaves, flowers, and branching roots. GROWBACK is a relaxing incremental game about growing one plant, both above the ground and beneath it.

Two sides of the same plant

Click to collect energy and reserves. Spend them on upgrades that let your shoot grow taller and your roots reach deeper. Follow the plant above the soil or scroll down to see what is growing underneath.

Let your plant do the work

Unlock photosynthesis and root hairs to produce resources automatically while the game is running. Develop your plant with upgrades such as broader leaves, lateral roots, and mycorrhiza. Choose what to improve next and make room for new growth.

Keep your roots. Grow back stronger.

When your plant is ready, end the season to gain seeds and permanent vigor. Spend seeds on permanent upgrades. Leaves fall and tender shoots are lost, while roots and woody structure remain. In the next season, new shoots grow from the structure you keep.

Watch your progress grow

Your plant takes shape in pixel art, with curved stems, spreading roots, and flowers along its branches. Scroll through the growing plant and see the results of your upgrades.

  • Grow a single plant above and below the soil.

  • Develop your shoots and roots, and spend seeds on permanent upgrades that help your plant grow back in future seasons.

  • Combine active clicking with automatic resource production while the game is running.

  • Carry roots and established wood into new seasons.

  • Scroll through the plant and its upgrade tree.
