About the game

Found a Roman colony, run its economy and pay your legions. Legio Impera is a city-building RTS set in Marian Rome: govern a province during the Cimbrian War, subdue Gauls and Germanic tribes, and stop the horde before it reaches Italy.

Original Steam description

Govern a Roman province in the middle of the Cimbrian War

107 BC. The Cimbri and Teutones are marching on Gaul, and Rome sends you as governor. Raise your city, run its economy, pay your legions… and stop the horde.

A living city

  • Start by placing the Forum and grow your colony with around 30 Roman buildings.
  • Flesh-and-blood citizens: send them to build, chop wood or work, and watch them at it.
  • Real production chains: wheat → flour → bread, iron → equipment, clay → pottery, olive oil, wine and meat.
  • Taxes, varied food, baths, temples and games in the amphitheatre drive morale… and whether people arrive or leave.
  • Events that shake everything up: fires, plagues, wild animals or merchants arriving from Rome.

Few troops, and every one counts

  • Legionaries, archers, velites, equites and praetorians, recruited one by one.
  • Every soldier gets paid, eats and has morale: if the bread stops, the legion falls apart.
  • Palisades, walls and towers against raids by Gauls and Germanic tribes.
  • Set up a castrum on campaign so your troops can rest and heal.

Empire mode

  • A map of the Mediterranean drawn like an ancient map, all in real time.
  • Subdue the peoples of Transalpine Gaul, collect tribute… and keep them from rebelling.
  • Found new colonies and govern several cities at once.
  • The Cimbrian horde moves while you build: Arausio, the Pyrenees, Aquae Sextiae.
  • Earn glory and climb the cursus honorum: from propraetor to imperator.

Play your way

  • Guided tutorial.
  • Custom game: choose the map, size, resources, number of tribes and difficulty.
  • Ten scenarios, from holding the frontier to defeating the Cimbri, Teutones and Ambrones.
  • Empire mode.

A Carpi Games title.
