Hounded Reborn Greyhound Racing

'Hounded Reborn Greyhound Racing' creates a world of greyhound racing for up to 6 players. The game is a conversion and further development of my original 1984 Commodore 64 game 'Hounded'. This Windows version was made with encouragement from those who still play the C64 version on simulators.

Each game week, 32 dogs contest a knockout carnival for the State Cup. The carnival consists of 4 heats, 2 semi-finals, and the cup final. The first 4 in the final go on to race legend dogs for the National Cup. A special sprint or distance event is held at the end of each second game week.

The last placed dog in each heat can be deregistered by the race officials (unless they are feeling well fed). A new pup will be offered for sale to replace each retired dog. Dogs vary in reaction time, acceleration, speed on straights, speed on corners, stamina, performance zone, box & track sense, age and fitness levels. There is no ability limit! The game has a number of subtle game tuning rewards (including for dogs winning special events).

Players select between pups to buy, trainers, and can gamble away their fortunes. The gambling (win, place, quinella & trifecta) is of course pretend, so you can have a punt without ending up broke!! A sea of statistics is maintained on each dog to inform gambling choices, and owners of their dog's performance levels.

Achieve cup wins, track records, top the asset value list, and aim for an 'Immortal' ranked champion. The computer player 'Mr. X' and his faceless syndicate, will seek to monopolise the glory.

Where there are multiple players, they can elect to leave, sleep or rejoin. New players can join existing games. As with the C64 version, this is not an online multiplayer game ... think board game, gathered around, sharing some snacks and banter :) You can of course (like me) obsessively and selfishly play hundreds of game weeks alone.
