Solve the Sudoku — and Keep Your Reasoning Visible

Hypothesis Sudoku is a classic 9×9 Sudoku game built around logical deduction and branching hypotheses.

When ordinary deductions reach a dead end, enter Hypothesis Mode, make an assumption, and explore its consequences step by step. Assumptions and deductions use different colors, keeping even complicated lines of reasoning clear and visible.

Two Ways to Solve

• Verification Mode: Entries are checked immediately, making it ideal for relaxed play, learning the rules, and practicing solving techniques.
  
• Hypothesis Mode: Answers are not revealed immediately. Mark assumptions separately from deductions, follow each branch, and return to an earlier checkpoint when you discover a contradiction.

In Hypothesis Mode, purple digits represent assumptions, while green digits and candidate marks represent deductions made from those assumptions. Create multiple levels of branches and backtrack through them whenever necessary.

The candidate filter lets you select several digits at once. Cells are colored according to how many selected candidates they contain, helping you identify pairs, subsets, and other candidate patterns.

Understand Why the Next Step Works

The hint system does not simply place the answer for you. It analyzes the current board, identifies applicable techniques, and shows the relevant cells, reasoning steps, and conclusion.



You still perform the final action yourself, allowing you to receive guidance without skipping the reasoning process.

A Gradual Difficulty Journey

The game contains ten progressively challenging chapters and a total of 100,000 Sudoku puzzles.

Begin with fundamental candidate analysis and gradually encounter more advanced elimination methods and logical patterns. Play through the chapters in order, choose a chapter, or jump directly to a specific puzzle.

Designed for Desktop Play

Use the right-click action palette to place digits and manage candidates directly beside the board, without repeatedly moving the pointer to the other side of the screen.



The game also supports WASD, the arrow keys, and number shortcuts. Separate keyboard modes for placing digits, editing candidates, and filtering candidates help prevent accidental input while keeping the solving flow smooth.
