A squirrel against the clock

Branchout is a time-trial parkour game set high up in the forest. You play as a squirrel racing through the treetops from checkpoint to checkpoint. Sprint along branches, climb up trunks, swing from ropes and glide on updrafts until you reach the goal.

Your first run is mostly about making it to the finish. After that you start noticing things: a jump you could have taken earlier, a rope you didn't need, a branch that cuts around the slow part. There's always a bit more time to find.

Keep the speed you earn

How fast you go depends on how well you move. Practice your timing and carry your speed into whatever obstacle comes next. Climbing, gliding and hop chains all have their own ways to build speed, and there are plenty more tricks to discover as you go.

Can you get the perfect time on every level?

Medals, leaderboards and ghosts

Every level has bronze, silver and gold medals, plus an author time set by whoever built it. Beyond that there's the online leaderboard, with split times at every checkpoint so you can see exactly where you're losing time to the world record.

Race the ghost of your personal best, the current world record or anyone else on the board. To see how the top players do it, open their replay and follow the run with a free camera.

Build your own forest

The level builder in Branchout is the same one we used to make the game's courses. Place pieces, grow branches you can climb, shape the terrain and draw in lakes and paths. Pick a season, a sky and the weather, from a clear summer day to a forest in falling snow, and the trees grow in around your route.

When your level is ready, publish it to the Steam Workshop. Every level gets its own leaderboard and medals, so other players can try to beat your time.
