A pawnshop, a debt and a man called Mr. Grin

Your late uncle left you his pawnshop. He also left you his debt. Every five days Mr. Grin, a loan shark with a very wide smile, comes to collect. Come up short and he takes all your cash and a finger. The third time, he takes your heart.

Build a money machine out of junk

Every morning, customers bring something to sell: a pearl, a radio, a haunted doll, a monkey's paw. Buy one, then arrange your shelf. At closing time every item pays out, and the eight items around it change what it pays. A Mirror copies its left neighbour, Duct Tape protects everything it touches, a Chainsaw smashes the neighbours. Find the combos and watch a shelf of junk turn into a money machine.

Strange visitors

Once a week someone comes in before opening: a widow with an estate sale, a crooked cop who wants a bribe, Mr. Grin's goon asking for a "tip", a TV crew, your uncle's ghost, a stray cat. Each deal has a price. And now and then a customer is not quite what they seem: a cat burglar, an alien in disguise, a mummy, a raccoon in a trench coat.

Side jobs, pocket tricks and the rival across the street

After every payday, Mr. Grin offers two side jobs for the week ahead. Pull one off and he knocks money off your next bill, pays cash or slips you a pocket trick: a polishing rag, a felt-tip pen that "signs" anything, strong coffee for a big night, bubble wrap, a lucky penny. You have two pockets and each trick works once, so timing is everything.

• RIVALS: every payday, your night goes head to head with another player's shop from the same week. Win and your night pays more. Lose and your customers walk across the street. If a Steam friend played that week, you face their shop. Climb a new ladder every month, from street vendor to kingpin.
  
• Clear the debt and every item on your shelf earns that debt level's sticker. 1,730 to collect.

Bring a friend

Invite a Steam friend and run two shops at once.

• DUEL: the same customers walk into both shops every morning. Every payday your nights go head to head for points, and the loser gets an extra customer the next day.
  
• PARTNERS: two shops, one debt. Each of you pays half of Mr. Grin's bill, your tills cover each other, and you can send your partner one item a day.
  
• Each of you picks an uncle, and a run with a friend earns seals and unlocks like any other.

Pay it off, then keep going

• Eight uncles, eight shops: each starts with different stock, a perk that changes how you play and three items only their shop sells. Their seals open the letters they left you.
  
• Ten debt levels, each with a harder rule. Twenty challenge runs, a weekly challenge everyone plays on the same seed, and custom runs that mix their rules.
  
• Twenty twists from Mr. Grin, from a power cut to double or nothing, and his last trick on the last payment. You see each one a week ahead.
  
• Can't buy it today? Put it on layaway, and the customer comes back tomorrow.
  
• Unlock 55 more items through milestones and fill your ledger.
  
• Clear the debt and keep going in endless mode, where merges climb without limit.
  
• A run takes about 20 to 25 minutes and saves every morning.
