About the game

Neptune is a short, chapter-based, dropper and precision platformer game. Soar and explore through abandoned architecture, receive gruesome mutations, enjoy the atmosphere and banging OST, and figure out the truth of what happened on Neptune all those years ago...

Original Steam description

You have been forcefully selected for a 1-way trip to everyone's favorite gas giant. You are alone, and no one will be there to save you...

Neptune is a short sci-fi adventure game about falling into the atmosphere of Neptune while exploring and/or avoiding abandoned structures in an attempt to descend deeper into the planet.

As you make your way down, here are a few things to keep in mind:

MUTATIONS:

You may find yourself face to face with an injector. Do not panic: panicking will only make DNA transfer hurt more.

Collect mutations to become stronger. Gain a higher jump, a midair dash, and control over time and space itself (note: time/space control not featured in game)

LORE!!!! I LOVE LORE!!!:

Find messages scattered around the world detailing everything from the contents of a CD to the very nature of Neptune itself. Take the time to read and learn about your surroundings. Or don't! None of the lore pages are mandatory. Play the game the way you want to play it!

SOUNDTRACK:

While making Neptune, I made sure one of our first priorities was the soundtrack. Made by 3 different composers (PixelOrchestra, CreedmanTheBot, and meee!! DayOfTheWeek!!! Hiiiiiii!) Neptune's soundtrack is a huge piece of its identity. From bleak guitar sounds, to hopeful synth leads and pads, Neptune's soundtrack has it all. If anything should stick with you after playing, its the soundtrack.

(Nice ost did your mommy pick it out for you)

Neptune is a very small game

Neptune was originally made for the Glombtacular Gamejam 2026, before being made into a full-fledged game. Even then, this game is small. The game is only around 40 minutes long and most secrets can be discovered on a first playthrough. Even then, we hope you'll give it a shot.

Peace and love on planet Neptune
