Rêverie: Audio Stories

Released

Petit VaisseauDiscovered Oct 10, 2026

About the game

Close your eyes, listen, and choose: illustrated audio stories where your choices change the ending. Two free stories, a king's messenger in a storm and a fairy tale full of songs, and two new ones as DLC: a mystery in the snow and the last morning of Pompeii.

Original Steam description

Close your eyes. Listen. Then choose.

A narrator speaks softly in your ear, rain is falling, and somewhere in the night a door creaks open. Rêverie brings you illustrated audio stories that you listen to like an audiobook and live like a game: at every turning point there are two paths, and you decide what happens next. Every decision changes the story, all the way to its ending.

Two complete stories, free, with no ads. And two new stories, sold separately.

The Messenger of Corbeval

A stormy night in the Middle Ages. Tense. About 25 minutes, 7 endings.
Your horse died three leagues back. Under your soaked cloak, sewn into the lining, is a letter sealed with the king's red wax, to be placed in the hands of the lord of Corbeval before midnight. The belfry strikes eleven. Inside the walls, a blacksmith is still hammering at this hour, monks are singing under the vault, laughter spills from the tavern. Everyone seems to know about your letter. Not everyone wants it delivered.
Who do you trust? What do you show, and what do you hide?

The King Who Could Not Sleep

A fairy tale for young and old. Gentle. About 25 minutes, 5 endings.
Once upon a time, there was an old king who could no longer sleep. For seven nights he has been counting sheep… and it is the sheep who fall asleep. No one in the castle remembers the lullaby that used to send him off. So Margot, nine years old and the smallest of the kitchen girls, sets out to find it, with nothing but a kind heart and a good ear. At the mill, at the wash-house, in the forest where the animals talk, everyone has kept a piece of it.
A tale full of songs (including a few from a minstrel who sings dreadfully off-key), for family evenings and bedtime.

Midnight at Valcombe

A mystery, on Christmas Eve, in the snow. Demanding. About 25 minutes, 7 endings. As DLC.
Christmas Eve, 1932. Snow has cut off the manor of Valcombe, with its clocks and its automata. A mystery to solve by ear, before midnight, for attentive players.

The Bread of the Last Morning

Pompeii, the day the mountain woke. Tense. About 30 minutes, 7 endings. As DLC.
Pompeii, AD 79, an autumn morning. Before dawn, the town's ovens are lit as on any other day. That day, the mountain wakes up.

What awaits you

  • Choices that matter. Two large cards, left and right: the call is yours. Your decisions change what happens next, the story remembers them, and every tale has several endings.
  • A living audiobook. A narrator and around a dozen character voices, with ambiences, sound effects and songs.
  • Illustrations that breathe. Every place has its own painting, brought to life with soft glows and slow movement: candlelight, lightning, rain.
  • Effortless to get around. In the courtyard of Corbeval, pick where to go (the forge, the chapel, the tavern…) and hear your own footsteps take you there.
  • Replay it differently. After an ending, go back to one of your decisions and take the other path. Lines you have already heard can be skipped up to the next choice.
  • Pick up where you left off. Your progress is saved, and the narrator reminds you where you were.
  • Listen your way. Subtitles, a voice/ambience balance, a dark mode for listening in bed, and choices read aloud for children who cannot read yet.
  • Keyboard, mouse or controller.
  • Steam Achievements and Steam Cloud saves.
  • Voices in English or French. Subtitles and menus in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian and Simplified Chinese.

Who is it for?

For grown-ups who love a story with suspense, for children with the fairy tale, for family evenings, for bedtime, or for a long journey with headphones on. On headphones or speakers, as you prefer.

New stories are coming to the library regularly.
