About the game
Build and operate a minimalist power grid across Wuhan. Match voltages, connect riverbanks, manage limited supplies and keep growing demand powered. Plan in Normal mode, handle faults in Hardcore, or experiment with custom settings and hand-drawn maps in Sandbox.
Original Steam description
Mini Grid is a minimalist single-player power-grid planning and management game. Start with one demand point and build a network of power plants, substations and transmission lines across Wuhan's rivers.
Every connection matters
Match line and terminal voltages, step between voltage levels through substations and use underwater cables to cross rivers. Watch power flows, loading and supply ratios. Growing demand, construction time and limited monthly engineering supplies make you balance today's needs against the next expansion.
Build a network that can recover
Overloads, overheating trips, maintenance and policy changes test your plans. Open a circuit while keeping its physical line, reroute power, upgrade equipment and prepare standby routes. Automatic transfer can connect an energised backup when a load loses all supply.
Choose how you operate
- Normal: pause to plan, build and inspect the network while the city grows.
- Hardcore: operate in real time and respond to line, transformer, busbar, generating-unit and switchyard faults. Pausing allows inspection; construction and dispatch actions require the simulation to run.
- Sandbox: adjust the five voltage levels, equipment capacities, demand, faults and policy settings. Draw land and water in the map studio and save your own maps.
Learn, save and experiment
A standalone tutorial and in-game guide introduce the tools. Keep multiple local saves and use optional autosaving. The built-in city is Wuhan; Shanghai and Chongqing are not included. The interface supports English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, German and Russian. The game uses keyboard and mouse controls.
