A pomodoro timer that collects characters

Desklings is less a game than a pomodoro timer: every focus session you finish adds a character or a souvenir to your collection. Click the nest above your taskbar and start a focus session of 15, 25 or 50 minutes, or any length up to 120. A small tag under the nest counts down while you work. When the time is up, a soft chime plays, the egg hatches into a new doodle character and your Collection gains an entry. Take a 5-minute break and your friends nap along with you.

Fill your Collection

Every friend is a new mix of body shape, color, pattern, eyes, legs and head style, with 44 traits to discover, including rare ones like star-shaped bodies and little horns. The longer you focus, the better your odds of a rare trait, and the Collection shows the odds at any time. Every friend you hatch stays in your Collection, where you can name them and choose who stays on your desk.

Send friends on trips for souvenirs

Instead of hatching an egg, you can send a friend to the mountains or the seaside for your focus session. They pack a little bundle, walk off the edge of the taskbar and come back with a souvenir when you finish. Each place has 16 souvenirs: 10 common, 4 rare and 2 legendary. A trip brings back one, sometimes two from 25 minutes up, and longer sessions raise the odds of a rare find. Duplicates turn into ink, and completing a place earns 200 ink. Stop the session early and your friend comes back empty-handed.

Decorate your desktop with ink

Focusing earns ink, and your friends sometimes leave ink drops behind. Spend it on 35 decorations and 18 hats and turn the strip above your taskbar into a tiny room. Your friends play with what you place: they water the flowers, go fishing, ride the swing, seesaw and slide, and play tag.

Little friends, nothing to look after

Your friends wander, nap and peek at your cursor while you work. Rub them with your cursor, or pick them up and toss them across the desk. They never get hungry and need no care, so you can simply focus. Clicks pass straight through to your windows, the strip hides itself during fullscreen games and videos, and it runs light at 30 FPS.
