Stake is a hardcore, 2D text-and-grid survival simulation that trades twitch-reflex action for deep, methodical strategy. Set against a bleak, procedurally generated topography of rolling hills, dense woodlands, and ruined urban sprawl, every decision you make is a calculation of risk, time, and logistics.

Vampires own the night. Desperate human scavengers, coyotes, and wolves roam the day. To survive, you must scavenge, secure territory, and systematically dismantle the horrors that have claimed your world—before you lose your life, your sanity, or your humanity.

Core Features

Deep, Unforgiving Survival Simulation Your physical health is only one piece of the puzzle. You must actively manage your Hunger, Thirst, Rest, Sanity, and Humanity. Patch bleeding wounds with bandages and stave off infection with antiseptic. When the horror becomes too much, calm your shattered nerves with a cigarette, a warm beer, or a pulp detective novel. Even a faded polaroid or a battery-powered Walkman can be the difference between holding onto your humanity and becoming just another monster in the dark.

Tactical Planning & Real-World Logistics Every expedition requires preparation. Plan your routes using a dynamic, high-resolution topographical map equipped with tactical radar filters. Logistics matter—inventory weight is strictly enforced. If you want to bring back a heavy generator or a massive haul of supplies, you will need to find a wheelbarrow or a shopping cart, or resign yourself to slowly dragging it through the dirt.

Claim and Fortify Safehouses You are not a nomad forever. Assess the damage of abandoned roadside houses, churches, and gas stations. Clear out squatters, board up shattered doors, and claim locations as your own. Build a network of fortified bases across the map to store your loot, sleep safely, and wait out the night terrors.

A Deadly Day/Night Cycle Time is your most valuable resource. During the day, you must scavenge for food, scout new sectors, and quietly locate sleeping vampire hives to stake them before they wake. As the sun sets, the game's ambient lighting plunges into deep blues and purples, and the true threat emerges. Stand your ground against siege events, defend your barricades, and survive the horde.

Take Back the Region Survival is the baseline, but reclaiming the world is the goal. Push outward into the danger zones to locate and repair the region's fallen monuments—water plants, power stations, and broadcast towers—to slowly bring the grid back to life, sector by sector.
