About the game
Explore an alien frontier in a sci-fi action RPG with first- and third-person combat. Scan hostile wildlife, recover salvage, customize your loadout, and travel by rover between outposts, ruins, and dangerous underground encounters.
Original Steam description
Salvage Frontier is a sci-fi action RPG about making a life on a dangerous alien world. Step off the colony ship, take assignments from the outpost, and head into the wilderness to recover lost equipment, investigate strange signals, and confront the creatures that stand between you and the next discovery. Switch between first- and third-person views as you explore and fight.
Beyond the outpost
Begin aboard the Ark, complete your field training, and meet Lieutenant Vale at the frontier outpost. Follow the campaign through salvage sites, research facilities, and underground encounters. Travel on foot or take a rover or hoverbike into the surrounding terrain, then leave the road to investigate what you find.
Prepare, scan, and adapt
Use your scanner to learn about threats before committing to a fight. Carry ranged weapons and a blade, manage ammunition and medical supplies, and develop weapon proficiency through combat. Fit compatible weapons with optics and suppressors to suit the encounter. Hostile wildlife, armed enemies, and larger creatures demand different approaches.
A frontier with other lives in it
Encounter colonists and roaming NPC crews as you travel. Patrols and local events can turn an ordinary journey into a fight for supplies or a chance to help someone survive. Recruit support, explore by vehicle, and return to the outpost to organize equipment and prepare for your next assignment.
Lost City extraction — in development
A separate extraction mode explores another part of the Salvage Frontier universe: an abandoned city reclaimed by hostile forces. Its current development build includes solo raids, a separate stash and grid inventory, ammunition management, and loot that is retained after a successful extraction. Decide what to carry in, how far to push, and when to leave with what you have recovered.
Squad play for up to four players is being developed and tested. Online co-op, expanded raid content, and additional systems are works in progress; they should not be treated as finished features of the demo.
Development progress
Recent work has expanded campaign content, improved terrain and lighting, refined weapon handling and combat audio, and added more NPC and vehicle interactions. The game remains in active development, with further work on environments, balance, performance, and usability. Demo content is a playable preview, not the complete planned game.
