Original Steam description
The Lostwood is a hardcore dark fantasy turn-based tactical roguelike with lively Steam PvP for 2–8 players. The solo adventure rewards strategy and resource management: make the most of your supplies, combine skills from six classes, and adapt your loadout to the next encounter. What you prepare before battle matters more than your actions during it.
Enter a monster-haunted forest in search of a cure for the one you love. Learn skills, collect items and collectibles, and turn what you find into a build that can carry you further. For a change of pace, face friends in PvP mind games, where a bold read or a clever team play can turn a losing battle into an unlikely comeback.
Prepare before battle. Go further.
In the solo adventure, inspect monster skills and traits before deciding which skills and items deserve your limited slots. A combination that won the last fight may fail in the next. Strengthen one core technique or combine several effects? Take more power now or leave room for supplies and endurance? Rebuild for the encounter, then choose when to play each skill to put your plan into action.
Put your strategy on autoplay
Arrange skills and items, choose their targets, add rests, and set a loop count and a safe HP threshold. Let your plan run automatically at an accelerated pace, with the option to rest when energy runs short. From alternating attacks and defense to chains of complementary effects, turn your ideas into a repeatable action sequence. A reliable loop can keep you fighting, but a new enemy may call for a new plan.
Read their intent. Act together.
See the skill each enemy is preparing before you choose your response. Both sides commit their actions, then resolve them in the same turn. Defense and other nonattack effects take hold first; attacks are resolved together. Study enemy targets and effects to decide when to strike, protect yourself, or rest.
Defend by clashing
When you and an enemy attack each other, a Clash compares each technique’s actual energy cost plus Momentum. The lower attack fails against that opponent; a tie stops both attacks. A well-timed strike can protect you from an incoming blow. When ordinary defense cannot hold, a stronger attack may turn the encounter in your favor.
Six classes. Your combinations.
Combine Warrior techniques and Momentum, Berserker health gambits, Guardian protection, Mage chants, Alchemist healing and status effects, and Scholar control over energy and cooldowns. Items share your limited battle slots with skills and wear out with use. Collectibles provide global passive effects without taking up a slot. Find the connections between effects and build a rhythm of your own.
Find your own way through the forest
Travel between connected locations, choose your direction at a junction, or return along a path you have already cleared. Every move costs stamina, including backtracking. Shops, camps, and strange encounters offer chances to recover or reshape your build, but every detour spends resources you may need further ahead.
Extra mode: 2–8 player PvP, big reads and wild comebacks
Bring the Clash rules into battles between players and see who reads the next move best. Attack while a rival rests, stop a crucial strike with a Clash, or switch targets together. A fight that looked lost can turn around in one unexpected play. Your reads, choices, and teamwork can become the moment everyone is still laughing about after the match.
Create a public or invite-only Steam room to play with friends, or find opponents in public rooms. Fight in teams from 1v1 to 4v4, or let one player take the Boss role in Summit Showdown and face the rest. Each match starts with its own skills; your solo inventory and progress do not carry into PvP.
