About the game

Choose your ruler, recruit officers, develop your cities, and win the war. Three Kingdoms: Rival Mandates is a strategy game set in the Three Kingdoms era. Grow your power through domestic affairs and diplomacy, and use your officers’ abilities and special skills in turn-based battles.

Original Steam description

Three Kingdoms: Rival Mandates was created to let you enjoy 8 scenarios, 650+ officers, 32 special skills, city management, and turn-based battles with satisfying impact—all at a price of US$10 or less. For people who are busy and worn out by everyday life, we have preserved the fun of turn-based strategy while greatly reducing the frustrating delays and unnecessary waiting that interrupt the flow of play.

1. Battle

There are 29 combat skills in total. Some skills can be used through items or learned through the Teach command. Understanding your officers’ skills and deploying them where they can make a difference is the key to victory.

2. Stratagems

Infiltrate enemy cities to burn their provisions, seize their resources and weaken their defenses. You can also hold secret talks with enemy officers to shake their loyalty.
Choose your way in, then deceive the guards or fight them head-on—whichever the situation calls for. An officer’s stats and varied special skills play a key role in infiltration, combat and persuasion, changing the options available and how the enemy responds. Send the right officer for the mission and play to their strengths to pull off your stratagem.

3. Ruler Growth

At your manor, train under your officers to strengthen your ruler and learn new special skills. Spar with them in sword duels and more, and you decide how your ruler grows.

4. Matchmaking and Marriage

Ask the matchmaker at your manor to find you a match, meet the candidates, and choose a spouse. After the wedding, chat with your spouse and enjoy a different side of a ruler’s life, between running cities and fighting wars.

5. Trade

The game provides a price chart for trading rice. Prices vary with the seasons and harvest conditions. You can make a profit by buying rice when prices are low and selling when they are high.

6. Domestic Affairs

Develop your cities through domestic affairs to increase gold and rice income. Good governance also attracts more people, bringing in even more income.

7. Diplomacy

If you start with a small faction, diplomacy is essential. Give gifts to improve relations and forge alliances. Ask your allies for aid when funds are short, or request reinforcements in times of war.

8. Rally

Moving troops in this game is simple. Build up your forces in multiple cities through conscription and recruitment, then use Rally to gather them in one city and quickly prepare to march.
