Original Steam description
Ballpark Days is a story-driven baseball game played from the catcher's point of view.
Set in a Japanese amateur league, you play as the catcher. Matches are 3D action: call the pitches and outwit the batter. Will the pitcher nod at your sign or shake it off? The chemistry of the battery sets the flow of the game.
■ Each season is 14 to 18 games
The story moves forward as you play through the matches, building drama that goes beyond wins and losses.
The league schedule is 14 games, and winning the league sends you on to the tournament.
The original story runs through the third season, and you can keep playing matches after that.
■ Trust with your team
Earning your teammates' trust brings you closer to victory.
As trust grows, small moments happen off the field as well.
■ Catcher actions
To call a pitch, choose the pitch type, then pick the location.
Beyond calling pitches and throwing out base stealers, use catcher skills like framing, mound visits and blocking to get out of a jam.
(Blocking is set to automatic by default.)
■ Batting actions
At the plate, you read the pitcher: choose a pitch type and place the bat cursor as the pitch is released, then swing in time with the pitch.
The better your read, the faster the bat cursor moves to the best spot.
Even if your read is wrong, you can still line up the cursor yourself.
■ Simplified play
There are no controls for chasing batted balls, catching, throwing, or tagging runners; these are handled automatically.
At-bats for players other than the protagonist are played out automatically on a simplified screen, but you can change the settings to control them yourself.
■ Audio
The game's audio is sound effects, umpire calls and stadium announcements only. Characters are not voiced.
