A Story Rooted in History
Yeommae is inspired by the historical record of Yeommae Godok (염매고독, 魘魅蠱毒), found in the Seongho Saseol (《성호사설》 제5권 〈만물문〉) from the Joseon Dynasty.
Back then, this forbidden dark sorcery was strictly outlawed by the royal court.
To escape a merciless famine, twin sisters set foot inside a shaman's house. As the heavy gates slam shut, their tragedy is set in motion.
