About the game
Kris has thirty days before the scrap press. Play as Sam, the fifteen-year-old who found him in an attic, and explore Cedar Falls together. Solve point-and-click puzzles, change what he can do with old floppy disks, and decide which memories you dare erase to give him a future.
Original Steam description
Thirty days to save a friend
Cedar Falls, Ohio. Summer 1997. You are Sam, fifteen, helping clear out your grandmother's house. In the attic you find Kris: an old household robot with a gentle heart and a deadline. In thirty days, he will be sent to the scrap press.
You may be the only person willing to speak for him.
New skills have a cost
A box of floppy disks lets Kris learn to fix, grow and make things. Each disk changes the way he talks and sees the world. Swap them as you solve puzzles together. But if you want to expand the space he has for abilities, you must erase one of his memories. That choice cannot be undone.
A summer in Cedar Falls
Wander from the diner to the cinema, the lake and the old factory. Meet the people who grew up alongside the town's robots. Listen to their stories, look closer at what they have left behind and find your own way forward.
- Classic point-and-click puzzles with no dead ends
- Ability disks that change Kris's personality and responses
- Hand-drawn pixel art, warm humour and help when you want it
The feel of the late eighties
KRIS is set in the summer of 1997, but it looks and sounds like a point-and-click adventure from the end of the eighties – somewhere between 8-bit and the first 16-bit machines like the Amiga and Atari ST, when swapping disks was part of playing. 32 colours, crisp pixels and more than a thousand animations. The music is composed in that style too, and it never simply stops. When the scene changes, it waits for the next bar and flows into the new melody, just like the LucasArts classics. We allowed ourselves a few modern liberties in sound and animation. The feeling of those years is still there.
What will be left when it matters?
At summer's end, Kris's fate rests with the people he helped — and with you. The memories you chose to keep will shape what you can say for him. The ones you erased will leave a silence.
How much of a life can you trade away to save it?
