Original Steam description
Game Overview:
(The story takes place in Japan in 2025 and 2001.)
Two obscure underground idols are forced to perform together as “archrivals,” entertaining a handful of fans at a small live house.
When one of their videos unexpectedly goes viral, their long-awaited opportunity finally arrives—only to be taken away by falling stage equipment on the very day their dream comes true.
They awaken in 2001, in an alternate timeline where the idol industry has yet to take shape. Their lives begin anew.
Ten girls with different personalities and stories endure countless evaluations and a brutal final selection, eventually forming the five-member girl group Quintic.
In front of the cameras, they are inseparable friends. Behind the scenes, they are coworkers trapped in endless arguments and cold wars.
“Are they really that close?”
“Are they like this in private, too?”
“She’s just that kind of person, isn’t she?”
Their public personas blur with their true selves until the line between truth and fiction disappears.
What becomes of the contradictions buried beneath labels, the complexities reduced to simple stereotypes, and the feelings that defy explanation?
Five very different girls struggle between dreams and reality, as their growth and bonds intertwine.
Let’s lay bare the emotions we’re ashamed to face and tear apart the polished lives that demand answers.
As Sweet Friends, players observe their lives and make choices at pivotal moments.
Progress through the story and manage their schedules to unlock retro forums and blogs, where posts from the era reveal different perspectives on the characters.
The five main characters have different romantic orientations and emotional possibilities, including heterosexual characters, an asexual character who feels little interest in romance, and characters who share deep bonds but resist labels. Romance is not the main focus; the story centers on their idol careers and personal growth. One heterosexual character has implied sexual activity described in text, without explicit imagery. Other characters have ambiguous or intimate interactions with people of the opposite sex, but no sexual activity is involved.
