About the game
In THE VESTIGE you play as Alex, a cyborg rebuilt by her father. Fight rogue robots with melee combat and improvised weapons, hack computers and uncover her memories. Take down the Faceless—a tyrant AI who wants to strip humanity of its free will.
Original Steam description
In a post-apocalyptic world ruled by AI, an artificial religion called the Faceless controls humanity and erases free will.
You play as Alex, a 22-year-old woman killed by one of the robots her father, Michael, helped create. To undo the destruction he set in motion, Michael resurrected her as a cyborg — her memories, love, and knowledge intact — and one mission: destroy the Faceless.
Food and water are scarce, societies are divided, and survival hinges on black markets and personal greenhouses. Rebellion brews beneath the watchful gaze of a faceless god.
The AI drains Earth’s energy to sustain its technology and feed the Faceless network. The machines’ extraction has shattered gravity, creating G-Fold Zones: narrow, invisible columns where anything caught in their path floats into the void while objects just inches away remain grounded.

Echo-7

Your little friend Echo-7 is always by your side. He can fire a shot at enemies whenever you pick up ammo, lights your path in the dark, and can fire his laser at a pallet or barrel floating in the acid to push it across, letting you use it to reach the other side.
COMBAT

Anything can be a weapon—swords, guns, rocket launchers, even chairs, barrels, and water bottles. The Vestige gives you fluid melee combat with an integrated dash attack, complemented by ranged weapons she acquires throughout the levels. Together, these abilities help her fight rogue robots and other AI-controlled entities, requiring players to use both strategy and agility.
GAIN HEALTH

As a cyborg, Alex is stronger, faster, and more durable than a normal human — but she is not invincible. Throughout the game, Alex can find upgrade stations, allowing players to enhance her body — upgrading her speed, strength, and reflexes. These upgrades tie into the recovered memories of her past, adding emotional weight to each enhancement.
MEMORY RECOVERY

Alex must recover memory nodes scattered across the levels — fragments of her past life, including photos, video logs, and texts left by her father. Each recovered memory (love, caring, creativity, planning, technology, judgment, empathy, and nature) restores more of her humanity, while also deepening her emotional connection to her family's tragedy.
ENEMIES

Player must navigate AI patrols, relying on stealth to avoid detections. The Ai monitors human behaviour through drones, ground patrols, and cameras while many traps are hidden along the levels, Player can choose to approach situations quietly by using cover, hacking security system, or blending into crowds to avoid attention.
HACK TERMINAL COMPUTER

Her father designed her with the ability to hack into AI systems and mainframes, and access to restricted rooms. Use her knowledge to hack enemy robots and reprogram them to assist her.
WEAPONS

Guns, swords, rocket launchers and that's just the start. Pick up and throw barrels, chairs, crates, etc. Anything can be your weapon.
THE APOCALYPTIC WORLD

The player will explore many levels, from Skycity to the botfactory, and from mysterious caves to underwater submarine base, and much more, each full of dangerous rogue robots, Ai controlled drones, and big bosses that oppose your continued existence.
MISSION

As Alex fights toward the Faceless, she uncovers the truth behind the collapse of human civilization — and faces a choice no one should have to make.
CONCLUSION
Alex’s journey isn’t just about physical survival—it’s also about regaining her identity and finding her purpose. As she recovers more of her past, Alex will grapple with the emotional weight of her death and her resurrection as a machine.
She remembers her family’s love but is also haunted by the fact that she’s not fully human anymore. This creates deep internal conflict and raises the question: is she still Alex, or is she just a copy of her father’s grief?
