About the game

Explain yourself! Improvise an excuse out loud for an embarrassing accusation, sneak in word cards like "butter" and "school lunch", and let your friends rate it from 1 to 5 stars. A party game for 2 to 8 players, on one PC or online with your own voice chat.

Original Steam description

What could possibly explain this?

Excuse Me, King! is an improv party game for 2–8 players. Faced with an embarrassing accusation, you have just a little time to talk your way out of trouble. Make it convincing, make it ridiculous, or make your friends laugh. The excuse is yours to invent.

Start with a line. See where it takes you.

After the accusation appears, your character shows a starting phrase in a speech bubble. Read it aloud, then launch into your excuse when the timer begins.

Work unexpected words into your story.

Your word cards can turn a simple excuse into something much stranger. Use a word, click its card to reveal it, and earn extra points. When your time is up, the other players rate your excuse from 1 to 5 stars. Their ratings and your card points add up to your score, with an extra bonus for using every card.

Four ways to get out of trouble

  • Classic: The standard rules, with three word cards per turn.
  • Speed King: Just 15 seconds to explain yourself, with double points for word cards.
  • Word Storm: Five word cards, and a +5 bonus if you use them all.
  • Double Trouble: Two accusations at once. Find one excuse for both!

Pick your look.

Choose from seven character skins. They are cosmetic, so everyone plays by the same rules. Speech bubbles, reactions, animated score counts, and a lively results reveal keep the focus on your group's performance.

One room or miles apart

Create and join a Steam online room to play with friends remotely, or play locally with 2–8 people taking turns on one PC.

Before you play online

The game does not include voice chat. Online players need an external voice chat service so everyone can hear each other. Local players talk together in the same room. Players speak their own excuses aloud.

Demo and release information

No demo is verified in the current check data. This does not mean the game has never had a demo; check its Steam page for current availability.
