Mowed Down

A multiplayer prop hunt where the hunter drives a lawnmower. Hide as anything from a hay bale to a piano across ten arenas, score only while a mower can see you, and come back as a mower or a ghost when you're caught.

The grounds of a derelict mansion at night, under a huge moon that changes phase every match, and the biggest arena in the game. Lose the mowers in the hedge maze, hide as a coffin, a skull or a grandfather clock, and flip down your night-vision goggles before the battery dies. Play it free in the demo from 29 October.

HIDE as anything

Every round starts with everyone on foot as themselves. Pick a prop and you become it on the spot: a hay bale on the farm, a dumpster in the alley, a wheelie bin by the shops, or something absurd like a piano or a giant toilet. Copy the prop you're next to, duck into the corn, climb a wall, and lock in place when a mower rolls past.

HUNT on one of four mowers

The hunters ride the Ride-On, the Garden Tractor, the Old Timer or the Combine. Dash, jump ramps, lob a lawn dart for an area stun, and ground-pound to knock every prop nearby flat, then mow them down. The lawn keeps a stripe wherever you've driven. Clip the wrong bin and you lose speed; clip a decoy a player dropped and you're stunned in front of everyone.

SHOW OFF to score

Hiding wins the round, but props only score Daredevil points while a mower can see them: the closer and the more you move in its view, the faster you score. Taunt under its nose, hold for a BIG TAUNT worth triple, and keep one zap for when the blade is about to reach you.

THE GARDEN is the lobby

Up to 40 players wait in a back garden with weed whackers. Bonk your friends flat (their hat goes flying), turn into a prop and zap them, throw the plushie for your dog, volunteer in the mower circle, and pick the music. Then the host pull-starts the Big Mower and it smashes through the fence, taking everyone into the match.

BUILD your own yard

Mowed Down ships with its full Map Maker: seven tools, fourteen searchable palettes, a 1 m or ½ m grid, and a one-click test drive. Publish to the Steam Workshop, and when you host a map the game sends it to everyone in the lobby, so friends don't have to subscribe first.

Ten arenas, each built like the real place

A Farmyard with a barn, silos and a combine; City Park's fountain plaza and duck pond; the Town Square's market stalls under the church; a Downtown crossroads; a supermarket Parking Lot; a Wildflower Meadow; the Overgrown Lot and the Back Alley; the Haunted Manor's hedge maze under a full moon; and the Backyard from the demo. Each brings its own disguises, under ten skies from Golden Hour to a Midnight hunt in night-vision goggles.

Features

• Lobbies of up to 40 on Steam (friend invites, join codes, passwords) or LAN by IP; spectators take the next free slot.
  
• Your rules: Infected or Elimination, mowers per round, rounds, hide and hunt timers, what caught props become (mowers, ghosts or their own pick), how often props may change disguise, Loud Lawn open mic, and mutators like Low Gravity, Caffeinated, Tiny Props, Decoy Swarm and Wobbly Wheels.
  
• Caught isn't finished: ride back in on a mower, or haunt as a ghost who honks, spooks props and steers a mower like a shopping trolley.
  
• Proximity voice from inside your prop, pitched to its size.
  
• Kill-cams, a Play of the Round you can save as a GIF, thirteen awards and Steam achievements.
  
• Wear something stupid: 19 characters and 36 props to wear as a hat, from a traffic cone to a flamingo to an upside-down bucket, plus hair dye, 15 paints and a dog from 16 breeds. Hats wobble as you move and fly off when you're caught. Everything is bought with coins you earn; no microtransactions.
  
• Solo play and Daily Chaos, plus the Egg Hunt map.
