Chess gave you sixteen pieces and one question: can you out-play the other side? Rogue Gambit keeps the board — and adds pieces you have never seen before, abilities able to change the battle in a flash, and an army you build from scratch every run.

Chess, rewritten

The board is the one you know. The pieces are not. Discover new pieces such as the Wizard, Bureaucrat, Jester and many more. Use their unique abilities to your advantage or succumb to them when facing them in battle. Give abilities to your army or upgrade them to the next rank when traversing through your own unique adventure.

Won the battle but lost the war

Each run a is branching journey across a variety of encounters. Battles are only half of it, the other half is the choices you make in-between them. Sacrificing a piece to win a battle or upgrade another piece might seem like a good idea but might come back to bite you. 

Give your pieces extra options

Give yourself extra options with special abilities. Let a piece capture without moving, protect it against a capture or even teleport it across the board or maybe you would rather trade your pieces for a stronger one. Choose the path that suits your style and deal with what comes your way. Options are your best friend in chess, so make sure to use them wisely!

Relics, challenges, and reasons to be greedy

Relics reshape a whole run: cheaper shops, a second copy of a pawn, the first piece you lose coming back for free. Unlock relics by playing and use them to give your next play a running start.

Or maybe you want to make it a little bit more challenging for yourself. Add additional challenges to your run and earn extra renown. Play against the clock, limit your moves or use any of the other handicaps to make every battle intense.

Get better, look better

Complete runs and achievements to unlock levels granting cool new looks to enjoy when playing during your future runs. Appreciate the new colours throughout the whole game and combine them with different piece styles to make every run your own.
