Description d’origine sur Steam
Become worse than what hunts you.
LIMINAL is a third-person action roguelike set in an endless, seeded world. You arrive skinless and small, carrying little more than a revolver. The things inside the realms are bigger, faster and crueler, and they will tear you apart. The only way through is to change: every gift you take grows on your body, until by the end of a run your silhouette is something else entirely.
Every gift is a mutation.
Kills spill orbs. Fill the glass tube and something outside the world offers you three gifts. Tentacles split your shoulder blades and stab whatever is about to hurt you. A cuff of bone barrels grows around your forearm and fires shards. Eyes open down your spine and find where things are weak. Chitin hardens over your flesh. Take a gift again and it grows. A rare crimson card strengthens another gift for the rest of the run.
Your guns fire on their own. Your hands are on movement: slide, bunny hop, and ride a skateboard straight through a crowd.
Blood shrines wait off the path in every hostile realm. Kill inside their ring to fill them, and they grow your skin back, patch by patch.
One world. No map. No markers.
The overworld is a single continuous land grown from one seed. Barrens give way to carved canyons, canyons to ruins, ruins to machine fields, and a bruised-violet megacity rises out of the haze. Fog banks travel across it, the light moves, and small animals react as you pass.
There is no map, quest log, or trail of waypoints. You read the world directly: learn the landscape, remember the way back, and find your next crossing.
Every threshold leads somewhere stranger.
Look through a portal before you step across it. Empty hotels, abandoned malls, flooded galleries, impossible pools, lunar offices, cloud cities, and buried spaces each have their own architecture, weather, light, and sound. A journey that begins beneath open skies becomes darker and more enclosed with every crossing, down toward the end of the road.
Nothing lasts. Not even the ground.
Stay in a realm too long and it begins to dissolve, eaten from the edges inward until only the route to your next crossing remains. Fall out of a vanished world and you land in the Abyss: a black, living mass that hunts you until a portal gathers and carries you home.
Keep moving. Keep killing.
Creatures differ in how they move, attack, and break. Enemies grow more demanding the deeper you go, and boss encounters test everything your body has become. Your shots leave visible wounds, sever limbs, and damage breakable surfaces in the world.
Every kill pays out in gold. Some creatures have swallowed gold or orbs you can see sloshing in their gut. Wound one and it runs.
Build the loadout for your next crossing.
Spend your gold on weapons, equipment, and healing. Unlock a pump shotgun, add a laser sight or flame ammunition to your revolver, buy a skateboard, and move faster with cybernetic legs. Spin the reward drum for items whose effects stack, and upgrade it for better odds, rarer rewards, and more reward slots.
Open legendary chests and see what the crossing gives back.
Cross together.
Play the journey in online co-op, with built-in voice chat.
Instruments left inside the world.
Four cathedral realms contain fully playable pipe organs with two manuals, pedals, sixteen drawstops, a working swell box, and 117 playable keys. They are not minigames or menus. They are instruments left in the world for you to find.
