The Deconsecration Initiative

Coming soon

GwilymDiscovered Sep 22, 2026

About the game

A short incremental game about building a machine to kill a god. Fire your laser, collect the shards and grow your base. The god will corrupt your workers into slugs, crystal trees and worse. Put them to work anyway.

Original Steam description

A Divine Entity has arrived. It does not appear to be hostile. Immigration cannot decide whether it is a person or an animal. If it is a person, it has no visa. If it is an animal, it is not a native species. Either way, it has no paperwork.

The Deconsecration Initiative has been created to convey humanity's response. In the form of a giant laser.

Build the machine

Shoot the god's shield and spend the shards it drops on power plants, rocket launchers and mini lasers. The beam starts as a thin line and ends as something considerably larger.

Hire workers

Build housing, and your workers will collect the shards for you. Buy them New Shoes and a Bigger Barrow, and they will walk faster and carry more. They are not paid enough for what happens next.

Put the corruption to work

Each shield you break lets out more of the god's influence. Workers turn into slugs, grow into crystal trees, take up worship and go on killing sprees. You can't prevent it, but you can turn it to your advantage with the power of SCIENCE, ENGINEERING and MARKETING.

Features

  • About two hours to finish, with no prestige resets

  • Five shields to break and four kinds of corruption

  • Around 70 upgrades across 14 buildings

  • Satirical writing about bureaucracy, religion and workplace safety

  • Finish the story to find out what the god is really doing here
