Welcome to Chinese Board & Card Games Museum
Step back with us into the streets and courtyards of 1980s and 1990s China, where regional card and mahjong tables from across the country are gathered into one playable museum.
Across China, the same deck of cards or set of mahjong tiles takes on different rules, names, and rhythms from one city to the next. Here, clear rulesets, cultural exhibits, and smooth tabletop matches live side by side. There is no required reading before you play—feel free to look around, sit down to a game you grew up with, or read an exhibit label and discover a game from another region.
Every way to play has a hometown
Inside the museum, we have recreated the local setting where each game grew up. Pull up a chair at any table, and you step right into the daily life of that city:
Head to a Wuhan alley on a summer night to play Dou Di Zhu in the evening breeze;
Visit a canal-side home in Huai'an for a partnership round of Guandan;
Climb to an autumn rooftop in Changsha and race to empty your hand in Pao De Kuai;
Step inside a Xiaogan main hall in winter to play Ka Wu Xing behind closed doors;
Sit down in an early-spring Chengdu teahouse to play Sichuan Mahjong to the last tile;
Or stay right by the Eight-Immortals table in the center of our museum hall for a game of Sheng Ji, played all across China.
The lighting in these old streets follows your computer’s clock—lamps come on at dusk, and a midnight game means midnight outside the window too. Clear skies, rain, snow, or fog: you choose. Take a breather and the camera wanders the city for you. Prefer to focus purely on the cards? Switch to Simple Mode anytime to skip the 3D scenes and go straight to the table.
Misplayed? Play it again
Every move against the AI is recorded. Step back to any move, play it differently, and the game branches from there. The original line is kept, so you can switch back and compare at any time. Available in all six games. Branching sessions are for practice and do not count toward your match record.
A quiet table
We want to give you a quiet place to play. Buy once: no ads, no top-ups, nothing nudging you along. Guandan and Sheng Ji also include guided lessons, and Sheng Ji comes with a built-in card tracker.
More exhibits on the way
The free demo currently offers six games—Dou Di Zhu, Guandan, Pao De Kuai, Sheng Ji, Sichuan Mahjong, and Ka Wu Xing—all supporting Steam friend rooms (in testing). Early Access is planned for Q4 2026 and will continue to welcome more regional games beyond these six, with the initial lineup announced at launch.
Every game has a history
Beside every table is an exhibit story and a lineage tree. Every branch on the tree cites its historical source; where accounts disagree, we draw the line dashed. Each table also states the exact ruleset adopted in the museum. House rules vary wildly from town to town—if yours differ, come tell us in the discussions. Local rules are the collection this museum treasures most.
A growing museum
Yandra Studio is building this museum piece by piece. More regional games and rulesets will keep arriving, and each one is placed on display only once it plays smoothly and its story can be told properly.Available on Windows with mouse and keyboard controls. No controller support yet. Switch between Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and English in the game without restarting your match. Traditional Chinese uses Chinese audio.
