Original Steam description

Welcome to Desktop Oasis

A little oasis of your own, right on your desktop

Write a few lines, look something up or get on with your work. There can be a little oasis beside it all.

Desktop Oasis is an idle desktop game made to keep you company during everyday computer use. Typing and everyday activity gradually earn Inspiration, bringing new creatures, plants, boats, decorations and collectibles to your growing oasis.

A little company while you’re busy

Keep your oasis on the desktop while you get on with your day. It can quietly build up progress in the background as you work, study or browse.

When you have a moment, come back to see how your plants have grown, where a boat has drifted or what’s new in your collection. Or just listen to the water and watch the little things float by.

Spend a moment playing on the water

Boats, logs and rafts move with the water and bump into one another. Drag an interactive floating object somewhere new, let go and see how the water responds.

Real-time water physics gives these small interactions a playful touch. Alongside collecting and growing, there’s room to simply play for a while.

Something new to come back to

Watch small plants grow, set a waterwheel turning and spend your Inspiration to unlock scene objects and discover new collectibles.

Some objects keep producing Inspiration and can also be clicked to collect it once their conditions are met. When their production cycle is complete, they leave to make room for the next round of objects.

Tend a plant today; discover a missing collection entry tomorrow. Get to know different objects and look for rare finds, with a little something to check on each time you return.

A few little finds beyond the oasis

Once you meet the relevant play conditions, you also have a chance to receive random Steam Inventory items. Discover something in the game and add a little collectible to your Steam Inventory, too.

Your first chest, a fully grown plant, an object’s completed production cycle… 18 Steam achievements mark these moments and offer a few goals for the longer stay.

Make it part of your desktop, your way

Keep the oasis behind your desktop while you’re busy, or switch to windowed or fullscreen mode when you want a closer look. Choose between desktop, windowed and fullscreen play to suit the moment.

Adjust quality, frame-rate settings, sound and the low-resource (power-saving) mode as needed. Add ambient sounds or white noise, let it keep you quiet company and return whenever you feel like playing.
