Original Steam description

About the Story

Dance of the Butterflies is a WLW psychological horror visual novel set in a cold, but efficient near-future world without nations. At the center of it all stands Bethel Institute. Once in a generation, it takes in fifty Candidates and turns them into the leaders of tomorrow. The price is written into the B.O.N.D contract: your body, your memories, or whatever is left of you.

The story follows Zera, who slips into Bethel under her estranged twin Perella’s identity after her sister goes silent behind its walls. But the deeper she goes, the darker Bethel’s secrets become, and four women, each entangled with Bethel in her own way, will make it harder to uncover the truth.

The Game

  • A slow-burn psychological-driven narrative wrapped in dystopian dread

  • Over 200,000 words of dialogue, equivalent to ~12 hours of gameplay

  • Four romanceable heroines, each morally complicated, each with her own secrets and agenda

  • Eleven unique endings shaped by who you trust, who you love, and what you’re willing to give up

  • Interactive gameplay beyond traditional visual novel experience such as point-and-click exploration, puzzles, and timed choices

Meet the Main Cast

Esther - Cold, precise, and perfectly compliant with all rules set in Bethel.

Delilah - Perhaps the only person to find the deadly trials entertaining. She also finds you interesting. The distinction matters, probably.

Anaelle - A former pop idol whose career ended in scandal.

Naomi - Gentle, unassuming, and observant. She's the easiest person here to trust.

Content warning: psychological manipulation, loss, and a contract you really should have read more carefully.
