Original Steam description

True Confession

True Confession is aimed at fans of action movies from the 1980s and 2000s, such as Heat, Training Day, The Wire, and The Departed. In visual style, it resembles Postal Plus, Crimsonland, and GTA2. It's old-school, but seasoned with modern mechanics and a deep narrative that deals with psychology and religion.

The main character, Henry Hughes, is tormented by nightmares, during which he dreams of gunfights and murders. He’s a religious man, and he’s deeply frightened by the feelings of anger and hatred that he experiences in these dreams. To deal with these dreams, Harry goes to his pastor each day for confession, trailed by the ruthless scenes that still echo around his subconscious.

The game’s narrative tackles the topics of crime, religion, psychoanalysis, alcoholism, emotion, unemployment, and several other serious societal topics.

Meanwhile, the game’s difficulty is hardcore. Each opponent can pose a fatal threat and creates a sense of rivalry.

True Confession is distinguished by its down-to-earthness mechanics. For example, the game does not have automatic health regeneration and superpowers, but instead an important mechanic of the game revolves around "Anger.” There are no rocket launchers, flamethrowers, or tanks — the game is about conflict in the streets, not the battlefield.

All graphics and animations are hand-drawn and 3D rendered, without any use of AI.

Let's go and pray/play together!
