About the game

Real-time territory conquest. Drag to send troops, swallow the map region by region, forge alliances and break them. Play solo against bots or invite friends over Steam or LAN.

Original Steam description

STAATIO is real-time territory conquest. Drag from a region you own to send troops, take neutral and enemy ground, and grow faster the more you hold.

Play alone against bots that can ally with you — or invite friends from your Steam friends list and they join, even mid-match.

How to Play

  • Drag from a region you own to send troops

  • Capture neutral and enemy regions by outnumbering their defenders

  • Hold more ground to generate troops faster

  • Ally with a neighbour — and break it off when it suits you

Four Modes

  • Classic — last player standing, or most territory when the clock runs out

  • King of the Hill — take the crown region and hold it for 60 seconds

  • Domination — hold the most territory for 30 seconds straight

  • Rush — troops move three times as fast

Change the Rules

  • Frontlines — troops may only reach a bordering region. Chokepoints, defensible borders, and territory with a shape worth holding.

  • Special fields — fortresses that halve incoming troops, factories that outgrow everything around them, portal pairs that link two ends of the map.

  • Revolts — eliminated players come back by seizing the biggest idle garrison on the board. Sitting on your troops is no longer safe.

They are toggles, not modes: combine them with all four.

Play With People You Know

Every match runs on a player's own machine. There is no official server, so there is nothing to shut down.

  • Host from the app — the game carries its own server. Start a match, invite friends through Steam, and they connect through Steam's relay. Nobody types an IP address or opens a port.

  • LAN parties — games on the same network find each other. Works fully offline.

  • Drop in — friends can join a match that is already running, or watch it.

There is no public matchmaking: you play with the people you invite, the people on your network, or the bots.

Also In There

  • Up to 32 players per match

  • Bots at three difficulty levels, tuned against thousands of simulated matches

  • A soundtrack synthesised live that reacts to how the match is going

  • Map seeds — find a board you like, share it, play it again

  • Room codes and passwords

  • Streamer mode — masks addresses, Steam IDs and join codes in one switch

  • Typed orders — name regions by address instead of dragging, if you prefer the keyboard

  • Colourblind palette, screen-reader labels, and motion that follows your system's reduce-motion setting

  • No sign-up, no analytics, no telemetry

  • Windows, macOS and Linux, on almost any hardware
