Privacy Not Included - A Motel Simulator

1997. Your habit put you in front of a judge. She was ready to send you away, until a man walked in and whispered in her ear. Guilty, but no prison: a fine, paid every week, working the night desk at your uncle's motel, the Starlight.

Your uncle Raymond used to run the place crooked. He's gone straight now. So have you, supposedly. The motel hasn't.

The first night is easy. Check the IDs under the lamp, take the cash, hand over a key. Smile at the regulars. Don't ask why anyone pays a week in advance at three in the morning.

Then someone from your old life pulls into the lot. He doesn't smile. He doesn't ask how you've been. He remembers everything you did. And he has a job for you, the kind you don't get to turn down.

Soon every room is watching. You hear what the guests say when the door shuts. You see what they do when they think no one can. Some of it is worth money. Some of it could get you killed.

Not the guests. Not the law. Not even your family. Every tape you keep, sell or burn decides who comes knocking next. Dig deep enough and you could bring the whole place down. If you live that long.
