About the game

Route a road through real mountain terrain, build it with curves, earthworks, bridges and tunnels, then drive it to test the design.

Original Steam description

Real terrain. Your road.

How would you build a road through a mountain valley? Follow the hillside, cut straight through with a tunnel, or bridge the gap? In ALIGNMENT: An Engineering Odyssey, the route is yours to choose. The landscape makes every choice matter.

Start with real geography

Explore mountainous landscapes and valleys based on real-world geographic data. Study elevation and terrain, then decide where your road should go. There is no abstract grid to follow: ridges, ravines, and elevation changes are part of the challenge.

Build more than a line on a map

Design horizontal curves and vertical profiles, then shape the road into its surroundings. Work with cuts, fills, and slopes. Place bridges, tunnels, and interchange ramps to create complete road infrastructure. Changing a single alignment can change the entire hillside around it.

Make engineering part of the game

Curve radius, grade, superelevation, and sight distance are more than technical numbers: they influence the driving experience. Choose between shorter routes and smoother journeys, between following the terrain and overcoming it with structures. There is no single perfect solution.

Drive what you design

Switch from the design view to the driver’s seat. Take on the bends, climbs, and interchanges you built yourself. Feel how the road behaves, identify awkward sections, and return to the design tools to refine your work.

Take on challenges—or build freely

Solve terrain-driven engineering problems in guided challenges, or experiment with your own ideas in free-build mode. Explore, design, build, drive, and improve: this is your engineering odyssey.

ALIGNMENT is in active development. Available features and content depend on the current Steam build and update notes. Multiplayer construction, community sharing, and more advanced traffic systems are longer-term ideas, not promises for the current version.
