Smoke and Steel is a turn-based wargame blending tactical battles with grand strategy set during the early 18th century, an age of disciplined musket lines, thundering cavalry charges and battlefields swallowed by cannon smoke.

Command the armies of Europe in tactical battles where formation, positioning and morale decide the outcome, then lead your nation through campaigns of war, diplomacy, trade and technological change.

Morale is as important as manpower. Sustained fire, flanking attacks and the sight of nearby allies routing can cause troops to lose their nerve and retreat. A single unit breaking at the wrong moment can trigger a chain reaction, turning an orderly battle line into a rout.

Command historically inspired units including Line Infantry, Grenadiers, Dragoons, Cuirassiers, Hussars and Field Artillery, each with a distinct role on the battlefield.
