About the game
Build a machine of arms that grab, cut, paint, and weld shapes. Program each arm with simple instructions like grab, rotate, and release to create the target artwork. Then optimize: every machine is ranked on cycle count and surface area.
Original Steam description
Shapesetter is an automation puzzle on a printed page. Build a machine, write its program, and watch it turn raw shapes into works of art, one move at a time.
Program a machine
Each level hands you raw shapes at its inputs and asks for finished products at its outputs: a quilt block, a Mondriaan, a page of circles. Place arms on the board, give each one a tool, and write it a tape of instructions. Press run and the machine loops, product after product, until the quota is filled.
Nothing out of sight
Every cut, weld and stroke of paint is a move you watch an arm make. Cutters cut where their blade sweeps, welders join pieces where they meet, painters lay color as a shape crosses the brush, and extruders grow new material. Every interaction is tangible and visible.
Exact shapes, flat ink
Shapes are exact geometry: arcs, sectors and straight edges, printed in flat ink on cream paper and sharp at any zoom. Cut the curves of a Drunkard's Path quilt, weld a Mondriaan together square by square, glaze Kandinsky's circles one over another.
Then make it better
A working machine is only the start. Every solution is measured in cycles, instructions and area. Go back and make yours faster, or smaller, or both: your machines are scored across different metrics.
Features
Five tools, one per arm: grab, paint, cut, weld and extrude.
Every move is visible: no black boxes, no shapes that change out of sight.
Exact geometry: arcs, sectors and straight edges, crisp at any size.
Optimize each solution for cycles, instructions and area.
Play with keyboard and mouse or a controller.
