About the game

An imperfect boy takes the perfect prince's place. Explore a watercolor storybook that unfolds as you walk, and battle with words you collect in this 2D adventure. As its gentle world grows uneasy, your choices—and how you win—shape the story.

Original Steam description

Lost in a storybook, a boy is given the role of a prince who looks just like him.
With the real prince nowhere to be found, he must take his place and carry on a story that has gone awry.

As you guide the boy, watercolor landscapes spread across the page.
Walk through this world, talk to its characters, and make choices as you follow the story from chapter to chapter.
Light action awaits along the way, with battles of words at key moments in the tale.

Everyone here has wishes of their own—and beliefs they won't let go of.
But what they expect of a prince may not be what you want to do.
Who will you listen to? How will you respond?
Your choices and actions shape your relationships and the course of the story.

Beyond the gentle colors lie clashing beliefs, war, and a world falling apart.
With each turn of the page, the storybook reveals another, unexpected side.

Between chapters, interludes give you time to spend with the people of this world.
Away from their roles in the story, listen to what they say, work out what they need, and search for it.

Get to know who they really are.
These connections leave you with words to hold close: Kizuna.
The words you gather become your strength as you face what lies ahead.

In battles of words, you clash with the story's characters over how the tale should unfold.
Use the Kizuna you've collected as your hand. Choose how to answer your opponent's words, then time your response.
Words have three affinities—Emotion, Reason, and Aspiration—that counter one another in a rock-paper-scissors cycle.
How you win also affects the story's branching paths.
