About the game

A co-op survival horror game rooted in Chinese folk traditions. Team up with 1–4 players to survive haunted locations, use ritual tools, uncover hidden truths, and escape the grip of evil. But beware—your arrival may only be the beginning of a greater nightmare...

Original Steam description

A Truly Authentic Chinese Horror Experience

From talisman seals and resurrected paper dolls, to incense rituals and spirit possessions, “Rookie Taoist” strives to recreate the most atmospheric and culturally rich horror rooted in Eastern tradition.

You'll find yourself wandering dimly lit hallways, stepping past ritual altars sealed with charms, and navigating hidden chambers steeped in mystery—each corner hiding something you’d rather not see.

The game draws heavily from real Chinese folklore and folk rituals, blending traditional architecture, sacrificial rites, and taboos to create a psychological horror unlike anything in the Western genre.

High-Freedom Survival Horror

You are not an all-powerful Taoist master—you’re just human.

Against the supernatural horrors within the mansion, you cannot kill—only survive. Use folk talismans and ritual items to ward off evil, hide in the shadows to avoid detection, run desperately through the darkness... or, in a moment of panic, shove your teammate to save yourself.

Every action risks exposure. Every hesitation invites misfortune.

An Engaging Co-op Experience

Supports 1 to 4 players in cooperative gameplay. Coordination is encouraged but not strictly required—solo players can still complete the full experience.

Share resources, collaborate on exorcisms, and build trust in the face of terror. In the darkness, your bond may be the only warmth that remains.

But sometimes... what’s scarier than ghosts—is realizing that your teammate may no longer be who they seem.

Infinite Stories, Interwoven Fates

You are drawn into fragmented memories, buried in time and dust. Behind each trail of blood lies a deeper, more disturbing truth.
Just remember: seeing is not always believing—and the truth may chill you to the bone.

Each map is a self-contained but interconnected tale of horror, waiting for you to uncover its secrets.
