About the game

Eight heroes. Infinite decisions. One winner. Amethyst is a deep 1v1 tactical strategy game — draft your team, level your heroes, contest objectives, and wager your matchmaking rating on your read of the game.

Original Steam description

Every match begins with a question: who will you be?

Pick four heroes from a roster of eight. Each belongs to one of four ancient classes — Bishop, Queen, Rook, and Knight. Each carries abilities that can turn the board inside out. The draft alone is a game within the game.

Then the dice hit the table.

Amethyst's energy dice are the engine. Every turn you roll for energy — and what you roll is what you work with. The strongest players don't fight the dice. They read them, bend them, and turn variance into leverage. In the right hands, no roll is wasted.

This is chess with a heartbeat.

Movement is grid-based. But unlike chess, your heroes level up mid-match — unlocking new abilities, shifting the balance of power, and forcing your opponent to adapt or fall behind. Neutral monsters occupy the grid. Contest them, or let your opponent take the advantage. Every monster camp you capture pays out in gems. Spend them at the shop on potions and gear, or burn amethyst into extra energy when a turn needs it.

Features:

  • 8 unique heroes across four chess-inspired classes

  • Draft system — build your team fresh before every match

  • In-match leveling — heroes grow stronger as the game unfolds

  • Energy dice — rewards adaptation over memorization

  • Neutral monsters — fight for board control beyond your opponent

  • Item shop — spend gems from captured camps on potions and gear

  • Full MMR ranking system with wagering for those with conviction

  • 8×8 grid — every tile, every position, every decision matters
