About the game
Command hundreds of thousands of units across land and space in a galaxy-spanning RTS and 4X hybrid.
Descrição original no Steam
HŌRU is a massive-scale science-fantasy RTS and 4X hybrid inspired by Star Wars: Empire at War, where you invade planets with hundreds of thousands of units in land battles and fight huge space battles with vast fleets. Forge an interstellar empire, assemble fleets and field armies of troopers, war machines, cyborgs, battlemages and monsters.
Wage huge space battles
Every battle runs simultaneously. Land and space battles play out across your empire as you move between fronts and you never have to wait for one battle to finish before taking command of another or zooming out to empire management.
Fight the battles you want to fight yourself, or entrust them to your commanders while you manage your empire and direct the wider war. Choose where to focus your attention while all your armies keep fighting.
Fight giant land battles
Invasion begins long before the first dropship touches down.
Assemble a fleet, load up your troops or strike force for smaller battles and head out into enemy orbit. Commit your warships to the fight and slip dropships through the enemy blockade to get to the planet surface. Use special abilities like orbital wormholes to push them through without suffering casualties.
Build orbital structures
In space battles, thousands of ships clash with each other for dominance. Every dropship that makes it through the defending fleet adds fresh troops to the invasion.
In land battles, your forces have to establish a foothold with infantry pushing toward control points while armor and artillery support their advance. Take control points to hold territory and either destroy all of your opponent's structures or capture them if the planet is worth it. Reinforcements can arrive any time provided they're not getting blown up in the accompanying space battle.
You are always free to move between the starmap, space battles and land battles to direct the war wherever you're needed the most.
Drop Zones
HŌRU's innovative drop zone system is built for warfare on a grand scale. Place a drop zone, give it a set of objectives and the troops that land there will carry out your orders automatically. Send them to capture or destroy buildings, hunt down enemy artillery or get to arbitrary points on the map. Units land with their orders already in place which takes pressure away from continuous babysitting.
You can still issue orders unit by unit, but drop zones make it easy to deal with huge armies and let you concentrate on strategy.
Magic
Magic is the spice that makes your enemy's defeat bitter.
Call down meteor strikes, hit them with lightning or freeze them in place. And if those fail, carpet bomb their general location or subdue them with massive orbital strikes.
Boarding Battles
Any boardable ship can become part of your fleet.
Send boarding vessels to breach enemy ships and deploy boarding parties that fight to get to the bridge before the boarded ship self-destructs, putting pressure on the entire operation.
Empire
War stretches across the starmap.
Colonize worlds, develop their infrastructure and decide where to concentrate production. Mine raw materials, produce alloys, and harvest mana from anomalous planets. Build up forge worlds to help create the ships and troops your offensives demand. Construct shipyards, space stations and orbital buildings, and maintain garrisons to defend your holdings.
Resources are stored physically on planets and carried between them by merchant ships. Where something is produced matters and so does getting it to the world that needs it.
Spycraft
It's easier to take on an enemy fleet when you know where it's going and invasions are easier to sustain if enemy reinforcements never get there.
Build a spy network within rival empires through bribery, deceit and subterfuge. Assign agents to infiltrate places, control people in key positions or masquerade as informants for the enemy, providing fake intel that draws them away from your true intentions.
Espionage includes gathering intelligence on fleets and planets, sabotaging the enemy war effort, interfering with command by giving out false orders to fleets to draw them away from the conflict or smuggling resources and stealing technology.
Choose the right agents whose skills suit the operation at hand and develop their experience over time. Protect relevant footholds and always keep expanding your network. Every operation carries some risk of it being exposed in which case some heads of your spy hydra will be cut off. Temporarily, until they regrow.
Coordinate infiltration with wars: divert enemy fleets, disrupt their means of production and steal their most valuable advancements.
Market
Trade bulk materials, alloys and mana through the interstellar market to respond to shortages and changing needs. Buy up a resource to prevent your rivals from acquiring it cheaply, or flood the market to crash its value and undercut those who depend on selling it.
Research
Develop your empire along two research branches: Tech and Genes.
Genes provides upgrades for your units while Tech improves your empire. Decide where progress matters most: on the battlefield or everywhere around it.
Sometimes, even knowing that a certain technology is possible can leapfrog your own research to obtain it, so use espionage to peer into your enemy's most cutting edge research to catch up with them. Or downright steal their research if your spies are good enough.
